Citizens of this country are called Nirians.
Resident Legends: --, the Architect
This country is a bit of an oddity with the main central part of the continent being a huge basin that actually rests a bit below sea level while huge looming mountains outline the border. Although there are plentiful prairies through the basin and decent foliage in the mountains made up of various bushes and hardy vines, there are little to no trees on this continent. The trees that do exist have bark akin to stone and ill suited for any sort of burning or building. As such, most tools or anything really are made of stone. Homes are either carved into the rock of the mountains or made of mud with thatched roofs if in the prairie. The only issue with the mud/adobe houses is that there's an extreme rainy season that happens every year that floods the large river that flows through the center of the continent which floods the entire basin. There are plenty of buttes that have been raised from the earth by electromancers through the centuries, but there is still a lot of land that isn't near any of these. Some either build floating homes with dried and inflated organs or migrate up into the mountains.
The continent is ruled by a Matriarchy in the capital, Unysseus. Royalty, nobility, or aristocrats are expected to give birth to their own heirs, since then there's no debate on whether they're legitimate or not. The royal line of Salanir are descendants of Alphonse's spouse and they carry the blessing of their crystal horn through each generation.
Currently, the throne is shared between the two twin siblings. Their mother died giving birth to them and the firstborn did not receive the crystal horn, whereas the second did. The country became split on who was truly the rightful ruler and initially wanted the two to choose, but they both refused and committed to ruling together. Now they have to quell arguments that are started on their behalf on who is more legitimate.

Exports are mostly of grains, stone, and fabrics.
The most important celebrations are of the festivals held before and after the heavy rains. Before the rains arrive, everyone gathers together to share supplies and help one another for survival and it's generally become a gift giving occasion and to party before having to be indoors a majority of the time and deal with drifting. After the rains, everyone seeks each other out again and have a quieter celebration for surviving.
