- Fallacy (aka "Fall of a Legacy")
History: It's said that a Highliond, envious of the Legend's immortality and authority, took it upon himself to falsify himself as having Legend status. Using an assortment of tricks to con people into believing he had all sorts of powers. Things started out harmless enough that he just made illusions, some of his friends helping him out by disguising themselves as him and making them believe he could do every ability. As his social power grew, however, the more he became afraid of being found out. Anyone who stumbled upon the truth was morphed into a monster. And when one of his friends threatened to reveal the truth, he made them take on his appearance and then had them publicly killed brutally, so he could pretend to come back to life. Bad people started to help him to gain power for themselves as well and things quickly spiraled out further from there.
It's thought that at some point, someone finally discovered the truth and carried out a plan to undo it all as very abruptly the False Legend's circumstance unraveled. The 'monsters' he'd created went loose, returning to their old families who welcomed them back and lionds who heard the truth went out to help them as well.
Celebration: In present day, Highlionds celebrate by reenacting the events leading up to and after the tyranny. So in October, lionds often dress up as monsters to scare others or play various pranks before dressing up as monsters on the 31st in tribute to the poor lionds that were experimented on and tortured. The costumed lionds then go door to door to receive treats, as those in the past had handed out items to the tortured lionds just trying to get home. The next month is spent celebrating the home and the return of families gathering as well as the downfall of evil.
As time has past, different parts of the world celebrate slightly differently and at different times. Having feasts or faires scattered throughout the months. Lights are still hung up and lanterns floated to 'guide the lost' back home.
